As the end of the school year approaches, this means that the schedule for the seniors starts picking up speed. One of the biggest senior events, prom, takes place on April 21st from 8:30-11:30 at the Woodlands Marriott. The day of prom, Friday, seniors will be released from their third period class in order to take the class of 2023 panoramic picture in the senior t-shirts. After the panoramic picture, students will be able to pick up their prom tickets for that night.

AP exam testing will take place May 1st- 12th. This isn’t exclusive to seniors, but with many senior students being enrolled in an AP class, it is important to be prepared for testing. The seniors’ final exams will be held through May 11th-16th. On Thursday, May 11th, senior award night will be held in the CP Auditorium at 6:30pm. Students who have received academic accolades, such as National Merit Finalists or Top 10% class rank, will be automatically invited. Students who have received and accepted academic scholarships, leadership scholarships, merit scholarships, fine or performing arts scholarships, athletic scholarships, military academy, or ROTC scholarships will be invited after bringing proof to the CCC center before May 5th.

Sign day, a CP senior tradition, will take place May 15th. Students pose and take pictures with signs that read the name of their future college or university. And on May 16th, seniors will take their final walk out of College Park at 9:15am. This is a touching tradition for the seniors and their families. The 18th of May, seniors will attend graduation practice at 8:30am in the gymnasium, then after attend the senior picnic from 11:30pm-1pm. Graduation is that night at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion at 7:30, but students need to arrive at 6:30. Students will be permitted to bring four guests, and any extra attendees will be allowed to sit on the free-seating lawn, but seats are limited. After the ceremony, students who are attending Grad Night will arrive at Main Event at 11pm. Students will be able to play games, enter raffles, sing karaoke, and more. The lock-in ends at 5am, when students will be released.

With all of these events on the horizon, it is important for seniors to focus on finishing the year strong, while also enjoying the last few weeks of being a high schooler.
