The CP Library has opened this year with new updates, books, and supplies that are now available for all students during and after school, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The library was temporarily closed last year, promoting safety for students and teachers at risk with Covid. The only options that were available for students were to sit down and read, though still had to follow the mandates of wearing a mask and were not able to browse around the shelves for books. However, the mandates have now been lifted and students are now able to walk in whenever they wish to.

Some new updates to the library include a Library Service Card that allows students to purchase different library services such as printing out paper, buying supplies like pencils, folders, and poster boards. As the library no longer accepts cash, service cards can be obtained through School Cash Online for $3.00.

The library has also made its services safer for students by continuing to encourage social distancing and limited contact transactions. At the beginning of the year, each student should have received a Student ID that comes with a barcode in which the library scans and you are able to check out two books for a span of 14 days.

If you are not into reading pages from a book then there is another option named Sora, an online book and audiobook app the school provides. Simply find CISD and sign in with your SSO username to start finding a book of interest.

The library also offers a book club every Friday from 2:40-3:30 where students are invited into a calm environment to read and discuss with their peers about certain books.

The library’s Canvas course is another great resource for more information on their updates as well as. They have things such as mental health books, their clubs, and more in-depth services that the library provides, they also provide online games like, sudoku as well as jigsaw puzzles. Students are also able to join a reading challenge where you have to read a certain amount of books to win a trophy and a free book of your choice.
