Hira Qazi, Editor-in-Chief

Nobody expected quarantine to go on for this long, but now that it has, here’s a list of movies for you to binge-watch, end the week off with, or keep as noise in the background while we all get through this lockdown together.

  • Jojo Rabbit

Rotten Tomatoes: 80% IMDb: 8/10

Directed by Taika Waititi and set during World War II, Jojo is a little German nazi who discovers a Jewish girl hiding in his attic. Although the concept of it sounds a little strange, the movie itself is feel-good, filled with subtle comedy.

  • Knives Out

Rotten Tomatoes: 97% IMDb: 8/10

Featuring Chris Evans, this movie is both a mystery and a comedy. Centered around the strange death of Mr. Harlan Thrombey, Detective Benoit Blanc suspects that his death was not suicide, but murder by one of his dysfunctional family members.

  • Forrest Gump

Rotten Tomatoes: 70% IMDb: 8.8/10

Starring Tom Hanks, this movie follows the life of a man named Forrest Gump. Although he is a little slow, his mother makes sure that he never sees himself as disadvantaged.

  • Pursuit of Happyness

Rotten Tomatoes: 67% IMDb: 8/10

Single father Chris Gardner, played by Will Smith, is struggling to make ends meet when he gets evicted from his apartment. Traveling from shelter to shelter with his young son, Gardner finally lands an intern at a brokerage firm, however, it’s an unpaid position. Even through these struggles and hardships, Gardner continues to work hard to create a better life for his son and for him.

  • Tiger King

Rotten Tomatoes: 97% IMDb: 8/10

Although not a movie, this new documentary tv series has been trending all over the media. It’s an inside look into the crazy world of big cat breeding and the true murder-for-hire story of a zoo owner.
